Staying Active
Being fortunate enough to have a very active YMCA network in the city with 38 different locations within the greater Houston Area, there’s no shortage of opportunities and programs for families interested in getting out and active.
Swimming and swim classes are available at many of our local community spots, including the public pools, which are always free and open for the season.
Gymnastics are also popular for kids of all ages. There are more than half a dozen great places for kids to tumble throughout the city. Our community outreach coordinator, Melissa, swears by The Little Gym for young tumblers.
Music, Theater, and Dance
The Alley Theatre program is certainly a community favorite, as is the Vivaldi Music Academy and The Shepherd School of Music. For dancers, METdance and the Houston Ballet Academy are sure to get your family up and on pointe. Whichever music, dance, or theater program your family chooses, we are confident you’ll be making beautiful music and entertaining with others from the Houston arts and cultural community.

Get wild at the Houston Zoo, have a ton of fun at the Children’s Museum of Houston, and make a splash in the Downtown Aquarium! Houston has a ton of wonderful and unique attractions for families.
