Houston is a wonderful city in which to make memories as a family. 

Kemah Boardwalk

Kemah Boardwalk is an eclectic mix of restaurants and entertainment. Year-round, when the circus is not in town, this is the place to go for some wacky fun. The carnival-like atmosphere is enticing for all and the facility feature a carousel, exciting rides, and even a 65-foot Ferris wheel. Located just outside of Houston’s downtown area, this is a great weekend pick for families looking to get out and get a little crazy.

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

In contrast to the Kemah Boardwalk, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston offers a variety of interesting art to be enjoyed by all. Check out unique African art and glass work, as well as American sculptures and paintings. There is also a collection of rare Egyptian antiquities that offer a glimpse into the beliefs and practices of this ancient power. Whatever type of fine art you are interested in, or if you don’t have much experience with fine art and are interested in learning more, there is a really wide variety of methods and media to see.

Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Water Park

On a hot day in Houston, cool down with any of the 32 amazing attractions and rides at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island. There are breathtaking water coasters, racing water slides, and whitewater rapids to be enjoyed by thrill seekers. On the flip-side, there are relaxing hot tubs and lazy river rafting to help busy families relax and kick back. This is a year-round attraction with a separate indoor water park available to families in the fall, winter, and spring. It has been featured on the Travel Channel as an award-winning attraction for families.

The Galleria

The Galleria is a world-class shopping destination featuring some of the most sought after luxury brands, perfect for a girls day out shopping. Treat yourself to something fine from Jimmy Choo, Cartier, or Louis Vuitton, and maybe leave the kids at home for this one. If you do bring your teen or the family out for a bite, there are also some delicious eats to be savored. Little ones might enjoy the Little Galleria Play Area to burn off some steam.

Wet ‘n’ Wild SplashTown

Splash through two million gallons of fun in the sun at Wet ‘n’ Wild SplashTown in nearby Spring, Texas. Featuring thrilling water slides and a cool six-lane water slide that lets your family race against each other for water park supremacy, there is no better way to let loose and get wet this summer. This water park is also great for families with small children; they can have a splash in the Wet ‘n’ Wild Jr. area.
